DMT coaches practice excellence and inclusivity

Teaching is more than just simply applying the same structure onto every student, it’s about working with an individual to understand what your unique needs and ultimate goals are. We ensure all of our coaches provide a comfortable, fun, and personalised experience for every swimmer; whether they are terrified of the water, or wanting to refine their existing technique.

Brenda

(she/her)

Coaching specialism: Teaching children and adults beginners, improvers and advanced swimmers training for competitions.

Why I love DMT Swimming: Everyday is fun. Working with the amazing coaches, and helping people achieve their goals.

Favourite swimming stroke: The Butterfly Stroke. It’s a challenge for everyone to start with, so it’s amazing to witness someone progress from basic drills to swimming whole lengths.

Best part of being a coach: Being part of someone’s journey in the water. From overcoming fears to gaining a competitive edge.

Favourite swimming memory: Teaching myself butterfly stroke, and the being able to fly through the water for 10 lengths... obviously with a break after each one.

David

(he/him)

Coaching specialism: Teaching adult group lessons and coaching triathletes.

Why I love DMT Swimming: I have the pleasure of working with the best swim coaches in London!

Favourite swimming stroke: I love swimming Front Crawl, I love watching Butterfly, and I’m the best in the business at teaching Breaststroke!

Best part of being a coach: Being a swim coach is the only thing I’ve ever known! Over 20 years and I’m still here, going strong in a city I adore and loving every minute of it.

Favourite swimming memory: Back in 2012 I had the pleasure of teaching comedian Frank Skinner how to swim for his Sport Relief challenge! It was an intense but incredible journey, and even helped kick-start opening DMT Swimming.

Francesca

(she/her)

Coaching specialism: Teaching children, or adult beginners, and triathletes.

Why I love DMT Swimming: It feels like being part of a family, while also being surrounded by professionals.

Favourite swimming stroke: My favourite stroke has always been breaststroke, and I particularly enjoy any drill that involves coordination.

Best part of being a coach: It’s hard work, but it’s also a fun environment.

Favourite swimming memory: After one of my lessons, a 5-year-old girl told me she wanted to be a swim teacher just like me.

Magda

(she/her)

Coaching specialism: All ages and abilities.

Why I love DMT Swimming: Working with friendly and supportive team.

Favourite swimming stroke: Back Stroke is my personal favourite, and my favourite drill is tapping a float between your legs with each stroke, which means you’re only using your arms.

Best part of being a coach: Seeing people overcome their fear of water and helping them to achieve what they thought was impossible.

Favourite swimming memory: Swimming across the Wisla River on holiday in Poland.

Mark

(he/him)

Coaching specialism: I’ve completed a number of triathlons, and helping others train for their first is incredibly rewarding. But if you’re looking for where I really bring the heat — it’s in a Swim Fit class.

Why I love DMT Swimming: The team are like family! So much knowledge to share between us. And, the swimmers are incredible.

Favourite swimming stroke: Butterfly, hands down - nothing beats the power and exhilaration.

Best part of being a coach: Watching people grow more confident and capable in the water is incredibly rewarding - especially when you see them having fun while doing it!

Favourite swimming memory: Every swim is memorable to me. It’s the closest feeling to flying — weightless, free, and deeply meditative.
